Codman Mansion is built.

It is located at today’s 951 Washington Street on Codman Hill. The house is purchased in 1808 by Rev. John Codman, who expands it significantly. After Codman’s death in 1847, it is occupied by his son for a time, then rented out as the home of Miss Dodge’s Female Academy. Subsequently converted to apartments, the building is nearly destroyed by a fire in February 1923 and demolished soon after.
